Senior Systems Administrator

Soapbox Mobile is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to manage and support the worldwide deployment of a high capacity client-server automated content production and messaging platform. The ideal candidate will be able to design and implement a complete collocation facility from initial hardware procurement to final backup process as well as manage all day-to-day functions.

Requirements
  • BS or MS in engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience
  • Must have at least 5-7 years experience as a production system administrator
  • Minimum of two years working for a major high capacity Website, ISP, or network operations center running large production systems
  • Extensive experience with installing and configuring Linux servers, DNS, Apache/PHP, PostgreSQL, Perl and Bash/Shell. C++ experience is a plus
  • System performance tuning and measurement, back-up/recovery, NAS, SAN, and RAID configuration, and other production sys administration tools
  • Expert understanding of TCP/IP and related Internet protocols, security/firewalls, web servers, and load balancing
  • Comprehensive understanding of Linux, Linux routing, and VPN solutions
  • Willingness to work long hours to achieve goals and take responsibility for all emergency issues to ensure 24/7 site availability
  • Independent problem solving, self-direction
  • Solid understanding of Cisco IOS, LocalDirector and PIX
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and driven to continuous personal and professional improvement
  • Administration of Sendmail and Blackberry enterprise servers
Responsibilities
  • Final 24/7 responsibility for all network hardware at the company co-location facilities and corporate offices
  • Administration of Linux and Macintosh and operating systems
  • Interact with vendors to receive support and replacement parts
  • Initiate new responsibilities, optimize facilities functionality, and help plan for ongoing expansion and scalability of network services
  • Evaluate and/or recommend network hardware/software purchases
  • Create system improvement proposals and present to management
